During this past week, I have not only had the opportunity to reflect upon my first informational interview with Ms. Sara Wahl --a criminal victims attorney at the Human Rights Initiative North Texas-- but I have also been able to reach out to more professional attorneys in the human rights field, mainly through cold calls and emails, in hopes of setting up another informational interview. These professional interactions have allowed me to gain a significant amount of exposure to professional settings, and has allowed me to develop a comfortability with over the phone communication. Since I began this program, I have witnessed a remarkable growth in my professional expressive capabilities and verbal skills, and have grown accustomed to communicating with professional attorneys in an eloquent manner.
This week, I felt that I excelled in maintaining communications with professionals and reaching out as much as possible to attorneys in my field of study. However, despite my persistence, I felt that I experienced a slight challenge in setting up several additional informational interviews, due to their busy schedules.
I currently have another professional interview scheduled for Wednesday, October 4th at 4:00 PM with Ms. Patricia Davis, a Title IX Litigation attorney at Farrow-Gillespie & Heath. I look forward to this experience, and plan to gather as much information and guidance as possible, in order to deepen my perspective and understanding of the field of human rights law as a whole.
